Worst Hosting Companies

December 30th, 2011

Streamline.net is one of the largest web hosting companies in the UK, and proudly advertise their services as 'web hosting made easy'. It certainly is easy to be lulled into a false sense of security, with a nice flashy website, reassuring customer testimonials and all year round special discounts. However, if you make the mistake of taking up the three month free trial, you might be in for a nasty surprise unless you diligently read all of the small print.

Cancellation is difficult it needs to be done one month in advance, and needs to be submitted via the online support ticket system and also via the premium rate phone number. Streamline.net justify this by saying they need to confirm sensitive details' which can't be taken over email. If you don't manage to cancel in time you'll be signed up for a year with the most premium package. When asked why customer weren't automatically signed up for the base level package rather than the most expensive one, Streamline.net refused to comment.

  1. QUESTION:
What are the best e-commerce hosting companies?
I have a small company looking to take a php site to a different host. Our current host is not cheap and not expensive and is down far too much to be suitable for running an online store. The problem is that all hosting companies that I see all guarantee 99.6% uptime, but when I try to research them online, there is very little information and I know that what they say cant be true because our current host says the same thing. Currently I'm looking towards HostMonster, Hostway, StartLogic, Yahoo for e-commerce, AT&T but I would appreciate some insight as I feel I may just be changing one bad host for another. Answers and advice welcome!

What is the best web hosting company on the market?
I'm looking for a host for my small website (under 25 pages). Any input on good/bad experiences with web hosts? Who is the best?

    • ANSWER:
I've used Lunarpages and HostMonster, and recommend them both for their features, price, and technical support.

They both offer a free domain name and you can host unlimited domains with a single account using HostMonster. Other things to consider are the number of databases and web site templates that come with the account, in case you decide to grow your site in the future (WordPress for blogging, Drupal for content management, etc).

There's a comparison of web hosting features and prices at the link below, as well as a list of hosts to avoid (including godaddy, yahoo, and others that are way overpriced).

  18. QUESTION:
Does my website hosting company effect how fast the web updates your page in other states?
I updated my webpage a few days ago, and someone in New York said that they were seeing a very old page. Aside from the Cache, do you think that a cheaper hosting provider would do a worse job of getting my website changes out across the web to the different internet providers?

Or maybe it is the person's internet provider that is slow in getting my changes up???

Let me know your thoughts, and thanks a million.

    • ANSWER:
No, the ISP has nothing to do with any of that. If the page is updated on your server, then the changes will be reflected immediately to everyone who visits your site. That person could have been looking at an archived version of your site on another server (like Google's cache) or simply seeing something saved on their computer. Good night!

  19. QUESTION:
What's a good site for hosting a website?
What is a good/cheap website hosting company? I know godaddy is cheap, but I heard a lot of bad things about them. I should add that this site is for a teacher. So I don't need a lot of space/features. I prefer to pay monthly instead of paying for 12 or more months at a time. Thanks.

    • ANSWER:
There are literally thousands of web hosting services out there some operate with their own servers and some operate as a reseller meaning they purchase a reseller account on a host and sell it under their own name.

There are various things you look for when trying to find a host. First since you're new I'd suggest looking one with excellent support team who are willing to help with your technical questions and general website help.

Also you want to consider pricing it's a very competitive market so you can find many great prices at rock bottom prices with various coupon codes.

      Lastly you want to cons

I'd also caution you looking for reviews online many reviews online are actually sociated and influenced in some way. You can see an excellent host being trashed but a low grade host being praised it can be quite confusing.

If you're looking to go with the popular brands with known great service some would be:
      Host Gator, Host Dime, BlueHost

The cost of hosting varies greatly with shared hosting starting as low as - depending on the package you purchase and the host you go with.

You also need to be caution of overselling host. Many host oversell since they are actually running at deficit. What they do is offer crazy packages claiming you this much harddrive but they can't actually provide everyone that quoted amount of diskspace.

Essentially they aspect not everyone will use the max amount of space thus it's a good promotional stunt making them believe they are getting more for their buck. If it's managed proper there isn't really any issue but if not your host can run into quite some issue as slow load time which will affect your SEO.

A slow host will also affect your Search Engine Rankings and affect user experience thus you want to be careful in choosing hosts.

VPS and Dedicated hosting do cost a lot more since it's hard to oversell a VPS or a Dedicated Hosting they can range from -0 depending on where you go and what features you add.

Generally if you're just wanting to host one business website I'd go with shared hosting. Depending on the amount of media you have on your website I'd say it'll take no more than 100 MB space max 1GB and these are high estimations. Most of my own sites only take about 10MB or less depending on the size.

You don't need much bandwidth as well you just need to be save 10GB but for a high media site but for a text site with a couple of images I can get about 1000 page views only consuming 100MB so you got plenty of space.

These are the large hosts however there are also many established and great host which are also reliable the key thing is doing research.

I'd caution you once again on going with the top ten host recommendations kind of things. Host pay big money to affiliates. They pay 0/ client even shared hosting this is why many of these reviews and these sites will recommend bad host even if they know it's bad. Also some of these sites are actually owned by the host itself.

BTW please do get in contact with me:
      benjamin_canada@yahoo.ca
I'm sure I can help you out with finding a host. I'm an experience internet marketer with vast experience in web development and Search Engine Optimization as well as social media marketing so I've spent good couple months doing research on hosts to use.

I myself in the process of writing an honest site where I can share all the information I researched and found while helping new comers looking to start their own website. I'll be providing a lot of resource on it shortly such as free guides on web site building, SEO, as well as templates, and advice, and suggestions.

It's not fully up yet but do check it out and bookmark it please:
      http://www.findahost.co
You'll be sure to find a lot of useful resource in starting a site there shortly.

I can also help you with your website building but it'll be too long to write that much. If you're not experience with websites though you might want to steer clear of html as it might take too much time to update as you have to individually update each page. Instead use a CMS like Joomla or WordPress.
      "

Also if you want just pm me if you're hosting one or two small sites I'll let you host on my shared account free depending on what you require to host. I have a couple shared hosting account and I haven't maxed it out yet.

I built my own site. I tried uploading some files the other night and putting in some redirect codes then my site went down. Everytime I try to access it I get an error 403 message.

Please tell me how to fix this. I tried contacting the hosting company but they have really bad customer service and I can not reach anyone.

    • ANSWER:
Without knowing exactly what you did it's hard to say where the problem is. But it sounds like somewhere along the line you changed the permissions of a file or directory. If you can, go through your site from you FTP client and check to make sure everything is readable by the web.

  21. QUESTION:
ukhost4u any good? I have read on many blogs, the hosting company ukhost4u were very unreliable, is this true?
I have a question about ukhost 4 u. ukhost4u are running a trial, but is it worth risking if their servers are often down or slow. I heard that this company is a one-man-band, which is why I thought the service may be better. Surely ukhost4u are not as bad as all these guys are saying it is? Is there an alternative company that provides a trial which offer a better service than uk host4u?

    • ANSWER:
If you're from the UK I recommend http://www.hosttell.com/one They are one of the leading European hosting companies (hosting over 500 000 websites), and they currently have a promotion in the UK. They are offering free hosting and a domain (you have to pay the £9.00 setup fee and that's it). Every plan includes Photo Gallery, WebEditor (so you can build a website without knowledge of HTML), Google Adwords coupon (so you can advertise your website on google for free) and a lot more. Check them out.

Otherwise, I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/

Powweb is on a 50% sale - .88/month (.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.

  22. QUESTION:

  23. QUESTION:
What is a good web hosting company to use?
Other people have asked this, but I haven't been happy with the answers. Any help would be very much appreciated on this. There is so much marketing junk out there I can't tell the good companies from the bad. So I'm looking for suggestions.

I need to host a web site. Here is what I need:
    1. Scalability. I want to start small and grow, so it will have to be a company with a wide range of "service plans."

    2. Trust. I don't want a company that offers free domain registration. I don't trust it, and it seems like a scam to me. They register the domain, they own it. I already own my domain. I don't trust a company that wants to own other's domains. Likewise, I don't trust a company that puts emphasis on things like the number of e-mail addresses they offer. "Now with 5000 e-mail addresses!" looks like a distraction to me.

    3. Reliable and affordable almost go without saying. But I'd be willing to pay a little more for better service.

    4. Freedom to advertise. I noticed some hosting companies have restrictions on what kind of advertising you can have on a site. I want to be able to put whatever kind of advertising I want on my own site.

    5. PHP

    Thanks for your help guys.
Thanks Bonnie, but I'm not looking for a free site.

JT, I'll check them out and see what other's say as well. The immediate red flag for me with netfirms is the "free domain registration."
Sites like godaddy are exactly what I'm not looking for. The scandals they've had recently, combined with the way they do business... that's exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

    • ANSWER:
Almost everyone is offering a free domain, because their competition does it, so it's a nice selling point. But of course you don't have to use it. I use Namecheap for my domain names.

If you're willing to pay +/monthly for a web host I recommend:

      1. http://www.mediatemple.com
      2. http://www.slicehost.com

If you're looking for something cheaper I recommend Dreamhost:
      http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html
(you can get discount by using the promo code DNA)

P.S. If you want to start small (something around )

      1. Register your domain with a 3rd party (like Namecheap)
      2. Buy hosting with Dreamhost, but choose the monthly payment option. (.95/month + .95 setup fee)
      3. Use the promo code DNA to waive the setup fee.
      4. Point your domain name to Dreamhost dns servers
      5. This way you get cheap hosting, but with no long term contract, so you can cancel at any time and switch to another host if you feel you need more resources.
      6. Switching is really fast, just backup your website content, upload it to the new host and point your domain name to your new host and that's it.

P.P.S. I've been using Dreamhost for over 2 years, hosting over 20 sites with them, and they've been great so far, but it's nice to keep your options open.

  24. QUESTION:
WHAT IS THE BEST WEB HOST COMPANY OUT THERE WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT?!?!?!?
I AM TRYING TO CREATE A NEW WEBSITE AND UPLOAD A NEW TEMPLATE THAT I PURCHASED FROM TEMPLATEMONSTER.COM

SO FAR OUR NEW BUSINESS HAS EXPERIENCED 2 OF THE WORST WEB HOST COMPANIES I COULD EVER HAVE IMAGINED HAVING TO DEAL WITH (BLUE DOMAIN & JUSTHOST.COM)

SINCE WE ARE RELATIVELY NEW TO THIS PROCESS...WE NEED SOME SUGGESTIONS OF FANTASTIC WEB HOSTING COMPANIES OUT THERE THAT HAVE EXCELLENT SUPPORT...

WHAT ARE SOME SUGGESTIONS BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE?!?!? PLEASE HELP!

    • ANSWER:
There are many web hosting providers and you might become confused to choose which one.

I recommend reading reviews so that you may compare and become more familiar with the hosting companies before making a decision. I have many websites and I often visit http://www.top15hosting.com to get familiar with the current top hosts. There you will find the best and cheap website hosting, rankings, and reviews of the top web hosting provider’s worldwide.

Web hosting doesn't have to be expensive if you’re on a budget like me. Take a look at the #1 rated web host in the site I just gave you. They currently have a great offer. That's as cheap as it can get when you’re being offered unlimited disk space, bandwidth, and free domain for life.

You should also be aware of scams and unreliable hosting companies. I have been scammed before but since I started paying attention to the website I just mentioned I’ve been well protected.

      Good Luck!

  26. QUESTION:
i have had a bad experience with ipowerweb.com. what hosting company is good?
i have used ipowerweb.com services for years and recently i found out that they have over charged me and they refuse to take responsibility for their illegal actions.
i bought my domains for 3 years and they had a free domain privacy offer on them. but they are charging me from the second year. sounds like I'm dealing with some illiterate pirates in the middle of ocean.

i would like to transfer my 100 domains to a new company.
    which company do you suggest?
    thank you!

    • ANSWER:
Yeah I did some research and found a lot of bad reviews on ipowerweb. I highly recommend Hostgator as I've been with them for a while and the customer service is great as is the hosting solutions itself.

I also have another site hosted with Bluehost and they are also very good too.

Stay away from Godaddy Hosting (only use it for domain names) and stay away (very far away) from HostRocket.

  27. QUESTION:
Does anyone know a worst Airline Company than Aerolineas Argentinas?
I did travel with them two weeks ago from Buenos Aires to Sydney and apart from all the delays (they were numerous) Someone pinched my Fuji Finepix Digital camara from my lugagge. The air hosts were rude, they were looking down to us. They wouldn't serve us food for more than 12 hours. etc, etc. If you can tell me any worst service, I may feel better.

    • ANSWER:
According to Forbes, America's worst airline is America West. They state in their article "America's Worst Airline?", that "We scoured tons of data on canceled flights, lost luggage, staff rudeness and more to find which carrier is worst at what. And the loser is America West. Even in an industry rife with screwups, crummy service and dissembling, America West stands out as a paragon of badness. It ranks worst in customer complaints, worst in lost luggage, worst in cabin comfort and next-to-worst in on-time performance. It has one thing going for it: In denied boardings (bumping ticketed passengers because a flight is oversold), it is somewhat less bad than the average airline. "

Also, according to the Guardian Unlimited, the world's worst airline is Afghanistan's Ariana - nicknamed Scaryana. They state in the article "On a wing and a prayer", that "With its long history of shot-down flights, crashes and hijackings (not to mention cancellations), Afghanistan's Ariana - nicknamed Scaryana - is arguably the world's worst airline. But can its new head get the company off the ground again? "

She went to the store and grabbed an already cooked" Chicken" There wasnt enough food so after me and my bf went to McDonalds....how about you?

  30. QUESTION:
    hosting company?
always looking for good hosting deals. What website hosting company would you recommend?
As a webmaster, I would NOT recommend bluehost or 1and1. Bluehost has pretty good customer service time, but have found them to not really have much knowledge, and there are too many little kinks in their system.
1and1.com has the worst customer service I have ever seen in any company - be it hosting or not hosting.
futurequest is the best hosting company and service..but their prices are too high for too little disk space.
    so..who do you suggest?

    • ANSWER:
Try http://www.netivo.com - I use them, tehy are pretty good, but also cheap.

  31. QUESTION:
Has anyone else had any experience with a hosting company named byet.net?
If so, can you tell me if your experience was good, bad or moderate.

    • ANSWER:
Honestly, I don't have any direct experience with your mentioned web host. But if you’re looking for the best service on the web, take a look at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . As an experienced webmaster I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them. Their service is really great and easy to use.

  32. QUESTION:
Is there any free GAME hosting website's?
Is there any free game hosting website's b/c i know how to make server's but i can't leave my computer on all day, and my internet is slow. Games like Counter strike source, Team fortress 2, Battlefield bad company 2.

    • ANSWER:
I don't know of any free hosts that allow you to run games or chat servers on them. Those tend to use up a lot of bandwidth.

You might have better luck finding some sort of VPS package that is on the cheap side, but you get what you pay for...

  33. QUESTION:
Can a hosting company make changes to your website without your knowledge?
Hi! I was wondering if hosting companies can modify any data that you host on their servers. Because my web site is going to be made of a lot of databases with very sensitive financial and personal data of my users, I want to be sure that nobody will be able to take a look at this data or even worse – modify it. I was thinking of a remote server to keep it in our office, but heard that this is going to be a great headache. What shall I do?
I’m not very good at programming that is why I need to figure out if the web designers won’t abuse of their situation.

    • ANSWER:
The servers belong to the hosting company, and they can do anything they want to them.

Hosting companies that do this won't want people to use their service, and thus will lose money, so most should leave your data alone.

  34. QUESTION:
What Hosting Company w/ Good Reviews?
I am looking for an EXCELLENT and INEXPENSIVE hosting company, one where I will not see a lot of bad reviews but good ones. Please also let me know how long you have been with them. I'm almost done with Startlogic and Go - Daddy seems awful too. So let's save some time and please don't recommend those.

    • ANSWER:
That really depends on your website requirements. For me, I want a hosting where I can host unlimited domains and subdomains, an FTP, a mySQL/PHP, one-click installs of some popular programs, good amount of space and bandwidth and a reliable service support.

My hosted sites are currently hosted at Dreamhost and I have been with them for a year now. So far, their service is good. I'll be renewing in a few days.

Use the coupon code "free2domains" or this link http://www.dreamhost.com/r.cgi?293201|free2domains so you can get free registrations of 2 domains everytime you purchase/renew your annual hosting.

If your budget is limited and your website does not require too much bandwidth and space, then you can try free hosting at http://tinyurl.com/36vp6w
Features include 250MB space, 100MB BW, cPanel, PHP/mySQL, host domain and most important is it has no forced ads like other free hosting.

  35. QUESTION:
    UK based web hosting needed?
I am looking for web hosting based within the UK (Due to search engine issues it has to be based within the UK). The hosting only needs to be shared and not a dedicated server or virtual.

I will need around 20-50GB bandwidth per month and the usual FTP access/stats etc. Costing £10-£15 per month but upgradable.

I am already in the I.T. industry and work closely with large ISP's and web hosting companies, however these are too large and do not provide any shared hosting.

If you have experience of a particular provider (Good or Bad) then your help and advice would be apreciated.

    • ANSWER:
I am living in UK but using hosting from US.

I suggest following webhosting , they are quite good.

      Hostmonster http://www.anurl.com/?PQMRY

They offer hosting of "unlimited domains" and you will get massive webspace of 200000 MB (200 GB ). They only charge .95/month and they offer "a free Domain Name" and installing service called "Fantastico". By using Fantastico, you could create own forum, photo gallery, shopping cart (e-commerce),your own auction site and your own blogs within few seconds. They also offer "Free Website Builder" as well.

  36. QUESTION:
Are all companies who host ads with doubleclick.net bad?
I'm not saying that I go around clicking ads, but if I do by accident, should I be worried if it says "connecting to doubleclick.net," or something like that? (I know I should do a virus scan afterwards, so you don't need to tell me).

    • ANSWER:
Ad servers like DoubleClick.net keep tabs on you when the site that hosts the ads let them embed them in their site. They use tracking cookies built into their ads to watch what you click, what you don't click, and where you are on the Web. And they'll use this to tailor ads more to your preference.

If ads are a nuisance or you don't want to feel so darn insecure, consider getting Firefox (if you don't have it already) and the small add-on Adblock Plus, which does exactly what it sounds like. It'll make your browsing faster (won't load the ads at all), secure (ditto), and all-around nicer.

  37. QUESTION:
What's a good web hosting service (I also want to buy a domain through the same people)?
I really want to use Yahoo's own Small Business Web Hosting and Domain, but I've heard a bunch of horror stories about it. I mean, I know that every web hosting company has a lot of BS said about them, because SOMEBODY has to have a bad experience with a company - its just the nature of things.
But, if you recommend Yahoo, great! That means I'm on the right track. If you don't, then what do you recommend? I need unlimited hosting and bandwidth! Thanks!

    • ANSWER:

  38. QUESTION:
Does anyone know of a worse company for customer service than Talk Talk (aka Opal)?
They took over my web hosting company, Pipex Dial, and the service just deteriorated from bad to worse. They "lost" my payment even though I proved it had been paid into their account; took down my web site and after telling me it would be back up within 48 hours (and making me pay again for the service) said they couldn't get it back up at all; continually tell me they are working on my case and somebody will get back to me (nobody ever has); make me pay premium rates to call them; and now are making it extremely hard to migrate my domain to another provider. I know Talk Talk persistently gets rated as the worst ISP in the country, but they are clearly also an expensive and incompetent hosting company too.

    • ANSWER:
Phones 4 u also have amazingly bad customer service.

I'm with talktalk and I know how you feel about their customer service- when I had a problem I was told that I was now a priority case and I would hear from someone within 5-7 days (which I didn't). I would hate to be one of their low priority cases!

I found the best way to get someone to deal with it was to use their customer services forum, they were really helpful (possibly because there is a proper record of what they are doing for anyone to see). I recommend you try it out here's the link http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/

They work from oldest to newest threads so once you have posted something, don't add to it before they answer you otherwise you will go to the back of the queue. They usually answer within a couple of hours and actually get things sorted- they basically act as a liaison between you and the actual department you need. No more getting passed around departments, but on hold for 30+ mins, or having the phone hung up on you!

  39. QUESTION:
Yahoo webhosting? What's a good web host?
Every Top 10 Hosting Plans list I see is different. So those don't offer much help.

Bluehost I've never heard of but keeps emerging as one of the best.

I'm currently using godaddy which I REALLY DISLIKE. It's tortuous. Everytime you buy a domain, you're blasted with screens of more options to buy crap. I dislike godaddy hosting.

I have about 8 domains and a hosting package currently on godaddy so if I switched I'd need to be able to transfer those.

I REALLY like yahoo's search engine and answers! area, etc. But I am not sure about there webhosting.

    Would need

-- ecommerce (i'm going to be selling audio products, documents, and possibly video products from the site. So auto-downloading of a purchased product is a must (I know ejunkie offers that but that's too small scale).

--Site analytics!!! I MUST have site analytics!

    -- domain transfer ease

    --quality cPanel installs

    -- low cost etc.

Thanks. Bluehost was the top of this one list, so I may check them out.

    Bye Bye Bluehost.

Customer for years... raised my rate without warning. Restricted number of emails I could send. Requested an increase and got the run around. Was told to write to someone in particular and they never wrote back or responded to any calls. POOR customer service so switched. Must be nice to be making enough $$ to not care about service anymore.

What's up with yahoo hosting? I'm interested in that.

    • ANSWER:
      John K ...

I've used Yahoo web hosting ( http://bit.ly/cHSop ) for years, and am very pleased with it. Yahoo ISP offers great price, free domain name, unlimited disk space, unlimited data transfer, unlimited email storage, 24-hour customer service, reliable hosting, etc.

      And save 25% here:
      http://bit.ly/cHSop

They also offer everything you mentioned, I believe -- ecommerce, analytics, transfers, etc.

      Good luck!

  40. QUESTION:
I want to start a web hosting business. How do I start?
I always wanted to start a business, in the web hosting industry. I installed server 2003 on an old laptop I had, played with IIS and Active Directory.
I also played around with linux, and Apache. I'm more experienced on Apache, than IIS.

I want to manage customers, websites, and feel cool. I wanted a business like this since I was small.
I'm 17 now, a senior in high school. I want to do networking and security when I get older.

I would like to start a web hosting business. It would make me harder worker, and then money to look at and tell myself I did a good job.

I see web hosting companies all the time, not providing support all the time. :/ Once in a while, they log in to their support, then back out. I'd like to be the host that does provide support all the time. I sold Microsoft keys a while ago on eBay, and in two weeks - I managed to sell over 100 keys, and got ,200. I haven't had one person say my support was bad. They all thanked me for helping them out right away, after buying the key.

So, anyhow, does anyone know where I can start to start my own business?
Should I buy a dedicated server, advertise, gain customers. Then when I get money, I can advertise more, buy a bigger server.
With more and more money, I can buy my own server and bandwidth and host at my house.

Does that how other businesses start? I have about 00 I can use to start my business, but I would only like to spend 0 of it now because I need to look for a car.

  41. QUESTION:
Would it be a problem for a company if an employee hosts a bad website?
If someone hosts a website from work that is inappropriate, could that damage the company in any way or be traced back to the company. Is there any reason why an employee would do that using company computers rather than his own?

    • ANSWER:
If you host any website FROM WORK, you are essentially stealing resources from your employer. That alone is grounds for termination regardless of the sites contents. If you host an 'inappropriate' site, your employer may object even if you don't use their computers.

  48. QUESTION:
How can legitimate companies with clients who WANT to receive emails avoid being filtered as spam?
We are a gaming company with over 5000 beta signups for our beta. It seems that almost 40% of our emails end up in our beta players' junk mail, unless they specifically add us to their approved list. We are not sending junkmail, but often important announcements. Players are upset they have not received the notice. We have checked with our web host and they have done what they can to assure that all of our settings are right, that our emails aren't sent out in too big a volume at a time, and that we have no bad keywords that should be causing any filter red flags. What can we do? Is there a "secure" hosting service out there that guarantees that its users don't spam through them, which the gmails and yahoos and hotmails recognize as self-policing so they won't filter emails from that host? If so, sign me up, I'll go with any host who can get my emails through to my clients. We're losing a lot of money due to inability to communicate!

    • ANSWER:
You will need to educate your clients.
Perhaps when the first sign up for service explain to them from the beginning that they should add your email address to the "safe" recipient list.
Even if it means showing them screen shots and having a whole page on your servers or website to educate them about the possibility of future important notices to be blocked by their spam filters.

Perhaps giving them an option to see the latest important bulletin or announcement on the websever themselves, like a message board or something.
Maybe you should consider setting up a webmail service ( or just an Inbox for messages only) for each of your clients so they can see important emails on the server with out using their own email clients.
Doesn't have to be massive in space, you can make it so they can only hold 2-4 mb of information.

whats the best web hosting company? How can i tell the good from the bad? How much space should I be expecting if im paying for it ?

    • ANSWER:
Honestly, It is just not worth it to go with any one site without doing your research first. You should consider going to a website like http://www.hostgumbo.com ... They have an up to date pricing and incentives comparison chart for the top 2008 web hosting companies starting at .96 per month with free for life domain names, plus you get back when you choose your web host. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or just want to talk about hosting and websites in general. Always do your research before you buy. Good luck!

  50. QUESTION:
Do I have any rights concerning my files that a hosting company won't let me have back?
The hosting expired on my site, and I didn't get to download my files in time, and I don't want to renew it because the price went up. The hosting company said I could buy hosting for a month in order to get access to my files. I already found a cheaper hosting account, so I don't want to do that.

Is there any way I can get my files back without paying?

Are they breaking any laws? I could spread som bad reviews on the net and ruin stuff for them, but that is not what I want to do. I just want the files.

    What are my options?

    • ANSWER:
No, they aren't breaking any laws, simply try asking nicely and see if you can get your files. If they haven't deleted them it will only take them a few minutes to zip them for you and upload them to a place where you can download the files from.
